Retaining Walls and Drainage
Block retaining walls, terraced hillside yards, French drains and grading fixes for water that runs the wrong way. Built with real drainage behind the wall, which is the part that keeps it standing.

Retaining Walls & Drainage jobs we take on
- Segmental block retaining walls
- Terraced yards on sloped lots
- French drains and curtain drains
- Downspout and surface drainage
- Regrading to move water off the house
- Wall repair and rebuilds

What makes the difference.
Drainage first
Most walls fail from water pressure, not weight. Gravel, drain pipe and outlets go in every wall.
Excavation in house
Cutting into a hillside is excavator work, which is what we do every day.
We tell you when it needs an engineer
Taller walls and walls holding up driveways or structures need engineering. We say so up front.
From first call to finished.
- Look at the slope and the water
- Excavate and set the base
- Build the wall with drain rock and pipe
- Backfill, compact and grade
Retaining Walls & Drainage FAQ
How tall can a retaining wall be without an engineer?
Most jurisdictions require engineering above about four feet or when the wall holds up a structure or driveway. We check your city's rule for your lot.
Can you fix water pooling against my foundation?
Yes. Usually a mix of regrading, a French drain and downspout extensions.
Do you build terraced backyards?
Yes, on the hillside lots in south Richland, Kennewick and West Richland especially.
